GOODSEED DAILY DEVOTION 30TH JUNE, 2025

Topic: Be mindful of your creator.

VERSE OF THE DAY: Matthew 16:26.
“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses
his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

As Christian believers, we must be mindful of our ways towards God. God
blesses us for a reason, and we should never assume we know what
tomorrow holds. God owns our souls and our bodies. Life is a risk; when
we sleep, go out, or come back, we take significant risks because
anything can happen.

Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about
its own things. **“Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”** — Matthew 6:34

Many Christians fail to learn from the stories of wealthy people in the past who neglected their relationship with God.

One such story is about Emil al-Bustani, the richest man in Lebanon. He built a beautiful grave for himself on the coast of Beirut, intending to be buried there after his death. He owned a luxury yacht, but while on a cruise one day, the yacht exploded and sank, taking him with it.

After spending millions, the boat was eventually found, but his body was not. As a result, he could not be buried in the exquisite tomb he had built for himself.

Another story involves Rod Tshler, one of Britain’s wealthiest men. A wealthy Jew, he was so rich that sometimes the government borrowed from him. He had set aside a room in his magnificent palace to store his wealth, filled with money and jewelry.

One day, he accidentally shut himself inside this room, which could only be opened from the outside. He started shouting, but no one could hear him due to the palace’s massive structure.

He was someone who often spent weeks away from home without informing anyone, not even his family. Consequently, no one bothered to search for him when he went missing; they assumed he was simply away as usual.
Locked in the room, he continued to scream until he became very hungry and thirsty.

In desperation, he injured his finger and, with the blood gushing from the wound, wrote on the wall: **“The richest man in the world dying of hunger and thirst.”** He eventually died, but his body wasn’t discovered until several weeks later.

These stories serve as a warning to those who believe that wealth is the solution to every problem in life. Leaving this world can happen unexpectedly, and we do not know when, how, or where it will occur. Once our breath leaves us, no one returns.

My advice is:
– Do not oppress anyone.
– Do not hate anyone.
– Do not hurt anyone’s heart.

Let your life be a blessing, not a curse, to humanity.

Prayer: Lord, give me the spirit of humility and not the spirit of pride, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
