Topic: YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER
Anchor Scripture: Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power whenthe Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Looking at the anchor scripture, Jesus promises His disciples that they would testify to His power when the Holy Spirit came upon them. Every born again and spirit filled believer need the anointing and power to be a witness for Jesus Christ.
On the way to Damascus Saul (Apostle Paul) had an encounter with Jesus that changed his life. He was persecuting Christians. His life was changed, and he was empowered by the Spirit of God. He went to Damascus, instead of persecuting Christians, he preached Jesus to them. Paul was sent to the Gentiles to preach the gospel of Christ and became a strong witness for Jesus Christ. (Acts chapter 9)
Analyzing in the foundational scripture, Jerusalem would be symbolic of your ministry, the home, that is your family. Judea might symbolize your neighborhood or place of work and Samaria might symbolize other towns and villages in your surrounding area. We are called to witness for Jesus wherever we can.
Jesus Himself needed the Holy Spirit and power to heal and deliver. “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38 NKJV)
Holy Spirit not only helps you to witness but also to pray(Romans 8:26-27)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Empower and anoint me with the Holy Spirit so that I can go about doing good and witness for Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name. Amen
