Topic: GOD IS OUR REFUGE

Today’s Scripture
Psalm 46:1-2, NKJV
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;”

Message
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today knowing that You are the One who is our refuge and strength, our ever-present help in times of trouble. Your Word reminds us of Your mighty power and Your unwavering love, and we are so thankful for Your presence in our lives.

God is our refuge—our fortress, hiding place protector life sustainer and shelter. God is also our strength, our help—the one who deals with the perils surrounding us. And because God is our refuge and help, we have nothing to fear, even if nature throws its worst tantrums at us. His presence is always with us wherever we are.

Every person who has ever lived has experienced troubles and tribulations at some level. God is our refuge—our fortress and shelter. God is also our strength, our help—the one who deals with the perils surrounding us. And because God is our refuge and help, we have nothing to fear, even if nature throws its worst tantrums at us. God will turn it around for good.

Where can we find safety and security? Read Psalm 46 again and again, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way. . . .”

Over and over in the Book of Psalms, God is described as a refuge. This does not mean that dangers and trials will not come our way. But during these perils, we can turn to God as “our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble”. He is our redeemer.

Do you think of God as your refuge? He is your safe place when trials come! The Psalms proclaim that God is our refuge and strength both for now and for eternity. Hold on to God, our Heavenly Father.

In what ways has God been your refuge and strength?
Looking back at the definition of a refuge, we see three distinct, practical ways God is our refuge.
– God is a Person in which to confide our troubles.
– God’s Word is a Place of Protection and Safety when we find ourselves in trouble.
– God’s Spirit provides the Power to sustain us through our troubles.
