James 4:6 KJV
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Pride is the disease of the heart. It is the diseases of the heart that is the source of most sickness. Heart diseases such as unforgiveness, anger, bitterness, jealousy, envy, strife, rebellion and Pride. Pride was killing Naaman.Yes he had leprosy in his body, but pride was killing his soul. Before Naaman could be healed of the disease in his flesh, he had to be delivered from the disease in his soul. What good is a lot of money, or a new car, or a new house, or a healthy body if your heart is full of disease? Jesus came not only to die for your sins, but also to help you with your problems. God offers you new life in Christ, and with his power you can change.Prov 16:18 says “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
The first and biggest problem with pride is that God hates it. Proverbs 16:5 says, “The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.” (Proverbs 16:5) There are few things the Bible talks about God hating, but God’s hate for pride is repeated several times in the Scriptures. God not only hates pride, but he actively opposes it. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” (James 4:6).The reason God hates pride is because the proud person tries to displace God. Pride is when you attribute to yourself the honor, privileges, prerogatives, rights and power that are due to God alone. Pride, at its core, is idolatry of self. A proud person has put himself or herself in God’s place.” Did you get that? Pride is when you try and take God’s place. And God will not share his glory with another. God hates pride. Make a quality to kick pride out of your life today. No more vacancy for the spirit of pride.
PRAYER
Oh Lord by your Spirit, I break every spirit and deposit of pride in my heart in Jesus Name.
