TOPIC: GOD’S PEACE IS AVAILABLE (2)

SCRIPTURE: LEV 26:6-

I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove wild beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country.

When we encounter the trials or challenges of life, worrying is so natural for us. In fact, most areas of worry have little to do with reality. The concerns of worry are often the “what if” questions: “What if this or that happened?” “What if he doesn’t show up?” “What if I get sick?” “What if I don’t have enough money?” Most people, even Christians, spend a lot of time worrying. The “Don’t worry about anything” statement of Paul is rather radical. If we did not worry, what would we do with all our spare time? What would we substitute for worry? Paul’s concise and practical answer is, “Instead, pray about everything.” Prayer helps replace worry. No longer do we need to be uptight and irritable. No longer do we need to toss and turn with sleepless nights. No longer do we need to complain or fear. Instead, we can experience God’s peace, which is “far more wonderful than the human mind can understand.”Worry can be dangerous to our health. It can bring ulcers, insomnia, or even heart attacks. In contrast, prayer can bring peace, the very peace of God.

Prayer opens the doors of our hearts to this remarkable peace. As Paul wrote, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And. be thankful” (Col. 3:15). God’s peace can be so authentic and present in our lives in times of turmoil and trouble that others are amazed and can’t understand it. At the same time, such situations give us a wonderful opportunity for Christian witness. When people inquire about our peace, we can share with them sensitively and lovingly that the source of that incredible peace is our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord’s peace is available to each of His children all of the time. We simply need to avail ourselves of this priceless treasure by offering to our Lord prayers of faith.

PRAYER
The surpassing peace of God is at work in all dimension of my life in the name of Jesus.
