TOPIC: “GOD WILL FIGHT FOR YOU”

Scripture: Acts 9:1-6 NIV
[1] Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest [2] and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. [3] As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. [4] He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” [5] “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. [6] “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Saul who became popularly known as Paul in the New Testament was one of those who joined in the killing and murder of Brother Stephen (v. 1). He became a threat to both Christian men and women having received authority from the high priest (vv. 1–2). The LORD Jesus Christ however intercepted him on his way to Damascus to persecute Christians there.

LESSONS

1. As Christians, we must know that the LORD is interested in bringing an end to any threat or opposition against our lives. Keep your confidence in the LORD and remain faithful unto Him.
2. No one can know the LORD except He reveals Himself to such a person (v. 5). Jesus Christ had to reveal Himself to Saul before Saul could call Him LORD.
3. Anytime someone is opposing true Christians or true Christian Ministers, such a person should know that he or she is opposing the LORD Jesus Christ (vv. 4–5). Let everyone therefore be careful.
4. The LORD Jesus Christ alone can convert the sinner. There is no sinner the LORD cannot convert.

As Christians, let us not be afraid of opposition whenever we are fighting for the Gospel truth. Remain faithful unto the LORD and He shall surely stop any and every form of opposition directed against you.

PRAYER:
Dear LORD Jesus Christ, show up in every aspect of my life and put an end to all forms of opposition (physical or spiritual) directed against my life and destiny in Jesus Name.
