THE LORD DEMANDS YOUR WORSHIP
Scripture: Exodus 20:3-7 KJV
“Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.”
It is useless having and bowing down to any other god other than the God of Israel. What is it you are bowing down to today? Your pain, money, power, popularity, fashion, job? To bow here is not limited to genuflecting to anything you deem a deity. God warns us not to give a better attention to any other thing. Do not put your trust in any other to help or save you or make you happy. They are all different forms of worship. Do not serve your body, your boss, your job, your money etc far and above your reverence for God.
“Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.”
Jeremiah 17:5-7 KJV
When people or nations worship the false God, it reflects in hardship, human wicked rule and agony. Reverence God. Reverence His name.
Prayer:
Oh Lord, you are all that I worship. I repent of any presumptuous sin of idolatry I may have committed.
