ACCEPTED FASTING THAT COMMANDS DIVINE ATTENTION

Scripture of the Day: Isaiah 58: 3-4, 6-7 GNB “The people ask, “Why should we fast if the Lord never notices? Why should we go without food if he pays no attention?” The Lord says to them, “The truth is that at the same time as you fast, you pursue your own interests and oppress your workers. Your fasting makes you violent, and you quarrel and fight. Do you think this kind of fasting will make me listen to your prayers?

“The kind of fasting I want is this: remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives.”

Fasting in Christian Faith is an act of waiting on the Lord and subduing your flesh in order to attract God’s speedy attention. Fasting is not enough if it does not provoke you to take faith actions. Fasting has the potency to help you overcome old habits and take on new ones but then it must cost you sometime such as a meal or two, sleep, personal belongings or giving up a personal indulgence (interest). This is because when you continue in your old way of hating, fighting and oppressing others God will not notice you. But when you fast give the stuff you have up to others who are in need of them, set people free either by intercession or physical steps to liberate people in bondage.

There is a Divine Covenant of assured answered prayer when you fast alright. Some of the tangible manifestations include:

1. Supernatural Favour: v. 8 “Then my favour will shine on you like the morning sun, and
2. Your wounds will be quickly healed.

3. Divine presence – I will always be with you to save you; my presence will protect you on every side.

4. If you give food to the hungry and satisfy those who are in need, then the darkness around you will turn to the brightness of noon. And I will always guide you and satisfy you with good things. I will keep you strong and well. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water, like a spring of water that never runs dry.

5. Your people will rebuild what has long been in ruins, building again on the old foundations. You will be known as the people who rebuilt the walls, who restored the ruined houses.””
Isaiah 58:8, 10-12 GNB

Prayer :
Today I rebuild by faith and by the words of my mouth every wasted areas of my life and family in Jesus name.
