Topic: HOW TO SHOW KINDNESS..
Scripture Reading: “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.”— Luke 6:27 (ESV)
Reflection: A few years ago, I found myself praying for God’s kindness to be evident in my life and in the lives of my children. My desire was to raise children who are not only aware of the needs of others but also confident in their own identities and grateful for their blessings.
I have witnessed the goodness and kindness that God has poured into their hearts, and it has been a joy to see them extend that kindness to others. In Luke 6:27, Jesus challenges us to love our enemies and to do good to those who may not treat us well. His life was a testament to kindness, exemplified even in His final moments on the cross when He extended grace to a thief.
This radical kindness demonstrates the heart of God and serves as a model for our own lives. Proverbs 19:17 reminds us, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.” Kindness has the power to transform lives, making burdens lighter and restoring hope. It can repair damaged self-esteem and bring joy to those who are struggling. As a fruit of the Holy Spirit, kindness is one of the most profound ways we can show love and compassion to those in need.
Remember, “A man who is kind benefits himself, but a man who is cruel hurts himself.” Let us strive to cultivate kindness in our hearts and demonstrate it through our actions, creating a ripple effect of love and compassion in our communities.
Prayer: O Lord, teach me and my family how to be kind to others. Help us to recognize opportunities to extend kindness and compassion, just as You have shown us. May our hearts be filled with love, and may our actions reflect Your grace. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Contemplation: • Reflect on a time when someone’s kindness impacted your life. How did it make you feel? • What practical steps can you take today to show kindness to someone in your life?
Action Step: Today, make a conscious effort to perform an act of kindness. It could be as simple as offering a compliment, lending a helping hand, or reaching out to someone who may be feeling down. Let your kindness be a reflection of God’s love in action.
