News 1: Displaced Ukrainian Christians Have Planted 160 Churches Across Europe
European Christian Mission International reports that Ukrainian believers displaced by the war have planted approximately 160 Baptist churches across Europe since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Mission leaders say many displaced believers no longer see themselves only as refugees but as missionaries carrying the hope of Christ into their new communities. New congregations and fellowships are forming as Ukrainian Christians combine hospitality, prayer, evangelism and support for other displaced families.
News 2: Texas Churches Deepen Partnerships With Ukrainian Congregations
More than 40 Texas Baptist churches are now participating in the Healing Path Movement, which connects individual congregations with Ukrainian Baptist churches for prayer, friendship, trauma support and long-term ministry.
A delegation of Texas pastors and Baptist leaders is preparing to visit Ukraine during the week of 15 September 2026. The partnership is also launching joint discipleship initiatives involving small groups and pastors in both countries
News 3: Nigerian Christian Completes 144-Hour Bible-Reading Marathon
Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack, a 27-year-old member of Summit Bible Church in Port Harcourt, completed a six-day Bible-reading marathon titled “144 Hours in the Word.”
Her church says the initiative was designed to encourage Christians to develop a deeper commitment to Scripture and regular Bible study. Although she completed the full 144 hours, Guinness World Records must still examine the evidence before recognising the attempt officially.

News 4: Phil Wickham and CeCe Winans Lead 2026 Dove Award Nominations
The Gospel Music Association has announced the nominees for the 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards.
Phil Wickham leads male artists with nine nominations, while CeCe Winans leads female artists with seven. They join Brandon Lake, Josiah Queen and Lauren Daigle in the Artist of the Year category.
Tauren Wells will host the ceremony for a fourth consecutive year. The event will take place on 6 October 2026 at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena under the theme “Together for One,” inspired by Colossians 3:14.
News 5: UK Bishops Appeal for Ethiopian Christians Facing Execution in Saudi Arabia
The Bishops of Chelmsford, Southwark and Winchester have appealed to the UK Foreign Secretary and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the cases of more than 50 Ethiopian Christians reportedly imprisoned in Saudi Arabia.
The bishops allege that some prisoners were trafficked and coerced into transporting illegal substances while fleeing persecution. They have also raised concerns about reports that Christian symbols were removed from prisoners and that open expressions of faith were restricted.
The UK Foreign Office reiterated its opposition to the death penalty and said it continues to raise such concerns through diplomatic channels.
News 6: Christian Organisations Challenge Amnesty International UK
Several UK Christian organisations have submitted complaints after an Amnesty International UK report described some Christian and gender-critical groups as part of an “anti-rights” movement.
Amnesty withdrew the report, acknowledged that it had bypassed elements of its internal review process and committed to reviewing what happened. The Christian organisations argue that lawful disagreement on contested ethical issues should not be treated as opposition to human rights.
News 7: Christian High Jumper Nicola Olyslagers Wins Commonwealth Silver
Australian high jumper Nicola Olyslagers earned silver at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games after clearing 1.93 metres. Fellow Australian Eleanor Patterson won gold after clearing 1.96 metres.
Olyslagers has frequently spoken about her Christian faith, explaining that her identity and purpose are rooted in Jesus rather than medals or athletic success.
