News 2: IMRHAN SCORES NEW TOP-FIVE ENTRY
There is fresh movement on Britain’s Christian and gospel chart.
Imrhan’s “David Danced” enters the Official UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart at No. 5, becoming the week’s only completely new entry inside the Top 20.
Martin Smith’s “Joy” returns at No. 7, while Rend Collective’s “Evergreen” moves into the Top 10 at No. 9.
The chart is compiled from UK streams, downloads and physical sales of recent Christian and gospel music by British artists, making it an increasingly useful window into the development of the homegrown faith-music scene.
News 3: A BIBLE ON A CAFÉ TABLE LEADS TO FAITH IN CHRIST
An encouraging evangelism story from Europe shows how patiently planted seeds can eventually bear fruit.
International Mission Board missionaries Michael Love and Emmett Grant, who work particularly among Central Asian communities in Europe, encountered a café owner identified as Aaron who already had a Bible open beside his computer.
Aaron was not yet a Christian but had begun reading Scripture independently. After starting in Exodus, he moved into the Gospels and became increasingly convinced by what he was reading. Christian volunteers visiting the city later spoke with him and left a Bible verse and assurance that they were praying for him.
After further conversations with the missionaries, Grant carefully explained the Gospel and what it meant to place faith in Jesus rather than simply understand Christian information intellectually.
Aaron subsequently prayed to receive Christ and expressed a desire to be baptised. Missionaries say discipleship is continuing despite practical challenges in his life.
The story carries a simple evangelistic lesson: sometimes the person God is preparing is already searching before a Christian ever begins the conversation.
News 4: ASIA-PACIFIC BAPTISTS UNITE FOR MISSION TODAY
Baptist churches throughout Asia and the Pacific are observing APBF Sunday today, 16 August.
The Asia Pacific Baptist Federation is inviting its member conventions and congregations to worship, pray and give together around a shared commitment to Christian mission across the region.
Its message for the day is:
“One region. Many voices. One faith. One mission.” (Asia Pacific Baptist Federation)
The observance connects churches across a remarkably diverse region and emphasises that global mission is strengthened when national churches collaborate rather than operating in isolation.
News 5: MAJOR MISSIONS CONFERENCE CONCLUDES IN NIGERIA
The Advancing World Missions Conference Africa 2026 concludes today in Ibadan, Nigeria, following five days of mission training and mobilisation.
The gathering has brought together pastors, mission-agency leaders and ministry practitioners around the theme “Extending Missions Frontiers in His Power.”
Sessions have focused on cross-cultural evangelism, discipleship, church planting, leadership development and practical preparation for mission work. Organisers say one of the principal aims is to mobilise more African Christians for missionary service both within Africa and beyond the continent.
The conference reflects an important change in the geography of world mission: African churches are increasingly not only receiving missionaries but training, sending and supporting missionaries themselves.
News 6: Seven Christians Remain Missing After Detention in China
Religious-freedom organisation Christian Solidarity Worldwide is calling for information about Pastor David Tang and six other Christians from Purpose Driven Church in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province.
The seven were reportedly detained on 5 August, and CSW said that as of its 12 August update their whereabouts and legal status had not been disclosed.
The congregation is an unregistered Protestant church that has reportedly declined to join China’s government-controlled Three-Self Patriotic Movement. CSW is asking Chinese authorities either to disclose the detainees’ location and provide access to families and legal representation or release them unless evidence of a recognised criminal offence exists.
Wenzhou has one of China’s largest Christian populations but has also experienced repeated government action against independent churches during the past decade.
News 7: Encouraging Step for Minority Girls in Pakistan
There is also a positive religious-freedom development worth noting.
The government of Punjab, Pakistan, has raised the legal marriage age to 18 for both boys and girls. Christian Solidarity Worldwide says the measure could help address the vulnerability of underage Christian and Hindu girls to abduction, forced conversion and forced marriage, provided the law is effectively enforced.
Three of Pakistan’s four provinces, along with Islamabad, now criminalise underage marriage.
Prayer focus: Pray for the Christians detained in China, for their families, and for effective protection of vulnerable religious-minority girls in Pakistan.
