TOPIC: START FROM WHERE YOU ARE.
SCRIPTURE: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1
Sometime ago, I was led to give everything we had collected in church offering to someone who was in need in the church. I obeyed the Holy Spirit and gave all to the woman even though the money may not have solved all her problem but it was just a small way of showing love to a member of the church:
One Pastor from another church who was in the service that day told me he was so challenged and inspired by that move. He has never seen a thing like that before. He said he made a vow to himself that day to be a blessing to his family and church members from that day. That singular action in church changed his life even more than all the messages he had listed to.
Now, this is the point: on the journey of showing love, you may not have enough cash to give but you have prayer to give. You have a word of encouragement to offer. That is the aim of the above story. You don’t know the joy of living until you experience the joy of giving.
Beloved, start from where you are in the walk and work of love. You don’t need to be a millionaire or a billionaire before you give; start from where you are.
Let me give you a counsel: if you are busy with other things, and someone randomly comes up in your mind, try and pick up your phone and call them; reach out to them; hear from them. You don’t know whether there is an issue in their lives that needs attention. Don’t be surprised, some people might tell you, ‘Actually, I was contemplating suicide, for the last five days, I have been so depressed.’
Beloved, I want you to take action from this counsel. Get your phone, send a text to, or call someone you have not seen in church for a while. You can change someone’s story by just a text. Look around and locate someone who has a need and assist as much as you can to meet the need as the Lord leads you.
PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to give liberally for the advancement of Your Kingdom and for the benefit of humanity. Lead me to that person who needs to be out of struggle, and help me to offer a helping hand, in Jesus’ Name.
