Topic: SUBSTANCE OF FAITH.
Foundational Scripture: Hebrew 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.” (NKJV)
Dictionary meaning of faith: complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Godly faith is defined as trust, reliance on God. If you want to please God, that means you must trust God. You must follow God with faith in Him.
When you draw near to God, you must believe that He exists Hebrew chapter 11 is the faith chapter, and I recommend that you read the whole chapter for better understanding of Faith. Romans 10:17 declares “so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God “(NKJV).
You increase, your faith when you read and meditate on the word of God, the Bible. God speaks through His word. Your faith will increase,when you listen to the word of God being preached by men and women of God. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrew 11:1 NKJV).
To better understand this verse, let’s look at the word “substance” Sub – means “underneath” and “Stance/ stand”. So, you put the situation you are facing under the feet of Jesus Christ or your feet as you are a child of God, then stand on the promises of God regarding your situation and wait for God to resolve your problem.
Abraham is considered as the Father of Faith. “But father Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance” (Hebrew 11:8-11). In Mark 5:25-28, the woman with the issue of blood said, “if I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole”. She continued to speak until she saw Herself well. Now that’s what I call faith “believing and receiving”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I trust and rely on You. I release my faith to believe and receive from You whenever I come to you in prayer. In Jesus powerful name. Amen
